Historic Document and Project Request Approval Dates

    Hello,

I am struggling a bit with one of my reporting requirements. The story is this.

We would like to check the throughput time (time it takes to complete certain tasks) of a certain phase by taking the difference between actual start task A and actual finish Task B. The thing with this calculation is that there is a considerable room for error as not everyone is as diligent in marking their tasks complete which is really critical here.

I haven't found a way het but I am looking for some way to get a date stamp for a document approval for a document that we'll link to the task that marks the end of the phase. This will be automatic when the document is approved.

Do any of you know of a way to extract the date for the approval of a document?

A second issue directly relating is a reporting need on "First Time Right". Which means that a phase of a project is FTR when the document supplied in the end tasks of that phase is approved in the first go. And it is not when that document is declined any one time in the process.

Do any of you know of a way to extract a historic type list of all approval related entries to a document or project request and possibly also the date for that entry?

    Thanks in advance!

Related items are not available so you will have no way of using ARB to connect those tasks and documents using that method.  If you can focus on specific documents by filtering a document name (could be problematic) you can then narrow down on approvals by using the Event field and Modified or Access date to capture the event called "Approval Approved" under the history folder (allowing you to bypass Declined approval requests within a single doc).

If you have to retain the task/document relationship then you could look into using a cross reference field which may be a workaround but I haven't fully tested it yet.
