What would you do for a PM when you see their schedule slipping and their customer tells you they aren't communicating status? I am looking for something like this: I would take them aside and coach them about their project and their priorities. I would point out the schedule slippage and the loss of confidence due to the lack of status update. I would offer assistance by reviewing their schedule with them and going into detail about the tasks slipping off of the critical path and steps to take to bring the schedule back on track or the need for change control to keep project stakeholders informed of the schedule changes. If bad enough, I would instruct them to submit a change request and understand the negatives associated with the request. I would remind them the most critical need they have is to keep the customer and all stakholders informed of status.
How do you get your team working on the same project goal? I am looking for something like this: First, I would hold a meeting on a Monday morning to review what has been done to date on the project and what is left to accomplish (project goals). I would hand out and briefly review a copy of the WBS and highlight roles by objective to get people focused. I would ask clarifying open-ended questions to be sure everyone understands the urgency of the project and where they fit in. I would deal with individual issues on a one-on-one basis.
