    Calendar - Creating an Appointment?

    Hi -

Wondering what permission may be in play when I attempt to Create Appointment in the calendar application, a new window spawns requesting that I 'Select a Project'. However, there are no projects displayed inthe drop-down as available for selection. The user in question is an Administrator and a member or higher in several system projects. Any reason this would be the case?

Also, we'd like to schedule a "non-project" related Project Team Weekly meeting in the Daptiv calendar. Suggestions on doing this? Perhaps we'll need to create a fake project just to act as a container for the meetings?

    Thanks,

    Matt

A common misconception is that Admins have full access to everythign.  This is not true.  They are limited to the projects they have been added to, and then are limited to the role they've been given in each project.  They only have full access in the Admin zone which is a separate area altogether.

When you select "Create Appointment" in the global tab it checks which projects you have access to, and then determins if your role within each project has the power to create an appointment.  It is returning nothing either because that user is a guest in those few system projects or the Calendar application is turned OFF in those few projects or a combo of both.

The other part...  Yes, set up a fake project if you only have one project type.  That is why we typically roll out Daptiv with 2 project types (Collaborative Workspace is the other) Use collaborative workspaces for non-project info tracking.  If you've deleted it, you can create another if you want to differentiate those from regular projects.

    Steve,

I confirmed that the user account in question, while an Enterprise Admin, also holds the role/membership of Project Manager role for several projects. I confirmed this via Users/Manage Project Memberships in the Admin Panel. I also edited the Project Manager role to have full permissions for Calendar to confirm sufficient rights.

Still, when I go to create a appointment in the Calendar it does not reveal any projects. Clicking the drop-down box on the main Calendar screen reveals all the projects the account is a member of but once I click Create Appointment, the drop-down here reveals nothing. I'm sure this is nothing more than a context issue but what else could it be?

    Regards,

    Matthew

    Never mind...

I re-read your post and it was the per project level On/Off switch for the Calendar application. Oops! Smile

    Thanks
